This was a first year entry for project Volaticus with the aim to create a fixed wing aircraft from scratch.
As part of a team of student engineers from multiple disciplines, we were tasked to design and manufacture an autonomous aircraft capable of dropping a payload at specified locations.
I was part of the structures sub team, responsible for the design and manufacture of the fuselage, landing gear, wing structure and payload dropping mechanicism.

The ribs were made from a combination of balsa and plywood, depending on the strength required for each rib. The rib profiles were laser cut and Solidworks was used to create an aerofoil profile based on the NACA geometry.
